This is part of our Tiny House, Tiny Bloggers series, in which we turn over Plaster & Disaster to some VERY tiny bloggers to tell their own story of transforming an ugly, old (doll)house into a fresh and modern (doll)home. Follow it from the beginning here.

Greetings, and happy Monday from yours truly, Tiny Bloggers! We’re here today to share some very exciting decorating progress that we’ve finally made in our house. In home renovations, every small step is a victory!
As you know, we’ve been living in a bit of a disaster/construction zone since we bought the house last year:
And no one has felt that more than poor little Madison. Aiden is really too young to notice, but Madison is four now and she’s starting to notice that her room is a little sparse:
No little girl wants a hand-me-down rug, a broken dresser, or to sleep on an old paperback book! This is her first “big girl room” – she was still living in a nursery space in our last house – and we don’t want her to construct her budding identity around such drab furnishings. That is terrible blogger parenting.
So we knew that this would be the first room we tackled now that we have the floors down. Before we could start, we obviously needed to pick a theme. Living in an un-themed room is disastrous for blogger children, leading to inferiority complexes. Madison loves animals but we already had our hearts set on a woodland nursery for Aiden (wouldn’t you know it, he loves animals too!), so we had to pick something else for her. After a lot of soul-searching, we decided to go with a zoo theme. Crisis averted!
To play up the theme, we wanted to create a large statement wall, and when we saw these adorable wooden animals for sale at Michaels we knew just what we’d do! The only other materials we needed were scissors and Aleene’s tacky dots as adhesive.
We just started in one corner:
And then worked our way across the first row:
Even though I don’t look like I’m having fun, I swear I was. And this project actually went fairly quickly. We decided not to do the entire wall, partially because we ran out of animals but also because it definitely looks better this way, right?
We’re so glad to have come up with this totally original concept that showcases our creativity and the unique personality of our little Madison. That is what blogging is all about!
It looks a little dark now, but once we move in all the furniture and colorful accessories I think it’s going to photograph really well! And hopefully Madison will like it (although that is obviously less important than how it photographs, it would be a nice perk of the project).
So what do you think, are we headed in the right direction with this zoo-themed big girl room?

That is a stunning wall! What an amazing concept! I’m stunned and amazed that no one has thought of it before, but I’ll bet all the bloggers will be copying this room now.
I like the way the laciness in some of the animals picks up the laciness of the rug. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

A little overwhelming for a four year old; possible nightmare quality. Do like the concept, however! Wonder how Aiden’s woodland theme will work out. Snakes, Medusa???

There is nothing more important in child-rearing than a bedroom with a proper theme. It is even more important than making sure that the kids’ bedrooms match the whole house aesthetic. You, tiny bloggers, are spot-on. The kids will thank you.

I would have stopped at half way up the wall – just MHO .

It’s impressive that you didn’t paint the walls first, in shades of pink ranging from blush to rose, with subtle striping and just a touch of glitter. Tiny bloggers have far superior taste to oversized bloggers!
Naomi says
Shhh, they’ll get a big head about !
… you were talking about OTHER oversized bloggers, right?? 😉
