No Sponsored Content
We do not do sponsored posts — that means we don’t accept compensation or free products in exchange for writing about them. If you’re reading something here about a product or brand, we want you to be sure that it is what we really believe.
(Or that we’re being incredibly sarcastic… it’s been known to happen.)
We’re NOT being sarcastic about the no sponsored posts thing, though. No exceptions! If you’re a company/brand/entrepreneur/creative looking to work with us, feel free to reach out to us about advertising or a free giveaway for our readers (see below for more about both), as those are the only product placements we offer.
Ads
We have ads on the site. You’ve probably noticed them on the sidebar. These are intended to help us recover some of the costs of running this blog, like the domain name and hosting fees. These are mainly managed through ad networks so we don’t have control over what is there. However, if you see something that you don’t find appropriate in an ad, please let us know and we’ll try to be sure that doesn’t happen.
If you’re interested in buying an ad space, please send us both an email (naomi[at]plasteranddisaster.com and sage[at]plasteranddisaster.com) for our viewership and rates.
Affiliate Links
Some of the links in our posts are affiliate links. These can be easily distinguished because they’ll be immediately followed by “(affiliate link).” Buying something from an affiliate link doesn’t cost the customer any more money, it just means that we earn a small commission on the sale for directing people to the product.
Plaster & Disaster is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com. We are also a participant in the affiliate program of etsy.com (because we love small businesses and handmade items and love to share them).
We did think very hard before deciding to add affiliate links, but decided that it would be OK because we’d be linking to all of these things anyway. We absolutely won’t be falsely promoting products with these links. That won’t do much good, as you’ll see our step-by-step progress and the final project result, and if the product is bad you’ll think we have terrible taste because it doesn’t look good! Instead, you’ll get information about what we used and what we thought about it… or what we wished we had used instead.
Giveaways
While we don’t accept free products for ourselves, we love to pass along freebies to our readers. We think it’s a win-win for our readers and brands / companies / entrepreneurs / creatives that would like more visibility than sidebar advertising. If you’re interested in offering a giveaway, please send us both an email (naomi[at]plasteranddisaster.com and sage[at]plasteranddisaster.com) to learn more. And if you really love reading legalese, you can find our full giveaway policy here.
Sharing our Content
We would love for you to share our content! Please do share our posts on social media sites, like Pinterest. Also, while we retain ownership, we absolutely invite you to take 1-2 images of our project and share it on your blog. We just ask that you credit us, link back to our original post, and don’t remove any text or watermarks if the image has them.
If you’d like to do something more extensive than that, like include a lot of photos, post a tutorial that we’ve written, or share a whole room from one of our houses, please just reach out to us beforehand to discuss. We love guest posting!
Comment Policy
We LOVE reading your comments! It is probably the best thing about blogging. And we absolutely invite you to disagree with us or tell us that all our stuff is ugly and dumb (although we have to admit that is NOT the best thing about blogging).
However, this blog is like our online home so if we feel your comments are offensive, inappropriate, or dangerous we’ll ask you to leave – just as we would in our own homes. (In comments, asking you to leave could take the form of deleting your comment or editing it to contain nothing but effuse praise for us and everything that we stand for.) We won’t do this lightly, and to date have never had to do it. But please know that by coming here and commenting you are agreeing to these rules.
Also, while we don’t moderate comments we do have a pretty aggressive spam filter. We review all the filtered comments individually and try to sort out any that were unfairly caught, so if you don’t see your comment right away just give us a little time to get to it.
