Tiny bloggers here to wish you a happy Friday! I know we just posted on Monday, but we wanted to stop in with a special Friday post to share a small follow-up on our Halloween 2017 crafts. First off, thank you for all your positive feedback on our projects!

We’re so pleased with how they turned out. But as Sage and Naomi are frequently proving, it’s not always smooth sailing with DIY. Even we make mistakes sometimes, so we wanted to share another project we worked on for Halloween that didn’t exactly turn out how we’d planned.

You see, we wanted to add a pot of mums to our front porch, but they don’t exactly come in our size — so we needed to make our own. We started by making the pot out of clay:

Next we painted the base brown:

Then it was time to add the flowers. Since we were making our own, we decided to make them red since we worried the more traditional yellow/orange would blend in too much with the rest of our orange decor (garland, fox pumpkin, etc). So we used red yarn, which left us with this:

We put it on the porch with our pumpkins, but it was quickly clear that it was not up to snuff compared to our other amazing projects:

Sage said it looked like a muppet.

Obviously we couldn’t keep it on the porch where the neighbors could see our craft fail.

It’s painful when things don’t go as planned, but sometimes that’s just how it goes even for bloggers with delicate little fingers like ours. We’re moving on, and we hope this confession reassures you that it’s okay if your projects occasionally turn out like muppets too!

Happy Halloween! We have an appropriately festive post for you today. But lest you think this is a really last minute Halloween post, let us remind you that we already did our Halloween 2016 craft post last fall:

Since we already took care of 2016, today’s post is in anticipation of Halloween 2017. If we’ve learned one thing from the blogosphere, it’s that you can never be too early with holiday decorating! But we actually thought we’d let the tiny bloggers take a turn this year, so we’re going to turn it over to them! Before we do, just a reminder of our standard disclosure:

Well hello, and Happy Halloween! We’re so excited to be here sharing a few fun and festive craft projects we whipped up to decorate our new house. Even though you might think it’s crazy that we dedicated even a moment to making Halloween decor when our house is such a construction zone [Editors’ Note: or dedicating even a moment to making Halloween decor for your construction-zone dollhouse when your houses are such construction zones…], it’s our first holiday in the house and we wanted to celebrate!

Of course, WE bookmarked Naomi & Sage’s brilliant Halloween 2016 post from last year, and we’ve been just dying (haha! get it? dying is creepy and so is Halloween!) to try out some of the projects. However, one of our common problems as tiny decorators is that the usual decor items (like pumpkins) don’t always come in our size. So we had to improvise if we wanted to recreate Naomi & Sage’s distressed turquoise chevron chalk-paint pumpkin.

We started with some modeling clay (incidentally, the same stuff that they used to make some absolutely adorable little ring dishes with incredibly trendy animals on them) and rolled it into a ball.

We then formed this into ~~tiny~~ appropriately sized pumpkins.

Of course, we all know that pumpkins are supposed to be orange with rough brown stems, so we painted them.

However, we read blogs, so we know that orange is a very un-trendy color for a pumpkin. I mean, no one has orange pumpkins these days! So, as soon as the orange paint dried, we immediately set out to paint them white like all the big bloggers do.

Doesn’t that look better? White is a much more appropriate color for a pumpkin, don’t you think?

We could then go ahead and decorate them with things that totally capture our unique personalities, like a mini-tribute to Naomi & Sage’s chevron pumpkin and a fox.

We were so excited to decorate with these! They’re super chic and we really think they send a message to the neighborhood (i.e., Sage’s spare room) that we’re really tasteful and are totally going to fix up this ugly (doll)house.

We put together a few more projects that we think strike that perfect balance of spooky and chic for the front porch:

We made a special Halloween garland. So fun!

We also made a wreath that we decorated with bats. Who doesn’t love bats?

Of course we couldn’t resist a little decorating inside either, with a super long garland.

Doesn’t the kitchen look so fun and festive? Maybe it would look even better if we’d channeled all this energy into renovations, but we made garlands instead.

Last but not least, of course we needed some on-trend Halloween costumes. I decided to go as a donut!
