This is part of our Tiny House, Tiny Bloggers series, in which we turn over Plaster & Disaster to some VERY tiny bloggers to tell their own story of transforming an ugly, old (doll)house into a fresh and modern (doll)home. Follow it from the beginning here.

Tiny Bloggers here. We’re super excited to be here today sharing this tutorial for an easy, stylish, and affordable furniture DIY that looks like a million dollars. You would never guess it cost us less than $1 in supplies!
Now I know you might be thinking: isn’t your house currently a total disaster? How could anything you’re doing right now cost just $1? And you’d be right, things at the Tiny Blogger household are not exactly in tip top shape. When we gave you our “before” home tour a few weeks ago, things were looking this this:
And now it’s actually gotten so much worse, because we’ve started to battle the wallpaper. Oh the wallpaper. Spoiler alert: we spent a very long weekend doing this:
But before we skip ahead and tell you all about that project and what wallpaper method we found to be most effective (we tried so many!), we wanted to share a smaller project. You see, in all the mess of the house renovation, I’ve found myself just wanting something cozy and chic to bring a personal touch to our space. For the longest time I have wanted to try DIYing a sheepskin stool, which are all the rage right now and for very obvious reasons. When I first saw one I thought it was a joke, but honestly the pastoral-boho-chic-eclectic-meets-mid-century-modern-glam-meets-bichon-frise look has really grown on me. Who would have thought this mashup of styles would work so perfectly together, but it really doesn’t look ridiculous.
And there are so many amazing tutorials out there about how to DIY one affordably, since these are actually being sold for hundreds and even thousands of dollars by major retailers — like actually. I was especially inspired by this one from A Beautiful Mess:
I have to admit, though, I was worried that the sheepskin stool might be peaking in trendiness, and the last thing I wanted was to be behind the curve. Then I came across one being sold by Anthropologie and I knew I had to have it:
As if I needed more convincing, I remembered Naomi’s and Sage’s 2016 blogging trends post (which had some totally amazing ideas, dala horses hello?!?!?) where they predicted an amazing marriage between sheepskin furniture and Pantone’s colors of the year. Combine that with Apartment Therapy’s back-to-back posts about dying sheepskin, and I knew I had hit gold:
So many reliable sources just couldn’t be wrong.
With this as my inspiration, I’m so so excited to show you what I put together in just a few minutes with some inexpensive supplies:
Of course our house is a disaster, so I took most of the photos in the room with white floors and walls that all bloggers must have.
Can you believe this cost less than $1 to make? I KNOW. I’m so excited about how close it looks to the Anthropologie inspiration image, from the furry body that definitely will not trap crumbs to the color that is the perfect blend between Pantone’s color of the year rose quartz and Pantone’s other color of the year serenity. What I love is that Anthropologie and so many other stores and bloggers can’t possibly have gone wrong with this design choice, so I know that I didn’t either.
But I also loved the gold feet in the ABM version, and I’m so amazed that my legs are almost a dead ringer. The best part is how easy it was to make: just a small scrap of wood, gold nails I hammered into the bottom, and then furry yarn that I attached to the top using a hot glue gun.
I guess I never realized before how much mid-century legs really just look like giant nails. How cool and sophisticated!
So that’s it, a quick and easy project to add some a much-needed pop of color to our home! Thanks Naomi and Sage for letting me share this tutorial!

I don’t envy them!

Wow tiny bloggers. I, too, never realized how much mails look like MCM furniture legs. Great DIY!
Sage says
It was a revelation for us too! 🙂

You have helped me pinpoint why I hate those pointy legs so much. (I was born in 1953. I hated them as a child, and I haven’t changed my mind.) Nails! Nails should not be legs! It all makes sense now.
But mauve sheep are always good.
Naomi says
Agreed – never met a mauve sheep I didn’t like. 🙂
Lee says
Oh, I dunno, I have to admit that the Anthropologie version looks much nicer to sit on! Nice try.
Mary Ann says
and it looks suspiciously like fiberglass insulation, could be pretty itchy to sit on, too
Naomi says
Aww, give the tiny bloggers a break! Stools like this are usually just for admiring as they sit cunningly next to large cacti on MCM plant stands, and not for actual use by humans. This stool will do that as well as any!
