Room Makeover: A Tiny Little Girl’s Room

Tiny bloggers here, ready to finally share with you the finished bedroom makeover for our little girl, Madison! We’ve shared two progress posts with you, first when we created a statement wall to establish the “zoo” theme for her room and then when we made over a lamp and dresser to begin furnishing the space. Last you saw it, it looked like this:

Well we’re thrilled to share that after a lot of hard work, it’s now looking like this:

Woohoo! The “finishing touches” involved putting in a real bed with colorful bedding, adding a rug, hanging curtains, installing a DIY overhead light, building and decorating hanging shelves, and putting up lots of art. We’re so pleased with how it’s looking, and we think she is too!

We’ll be back with a more complete tutorial on the hanging shelves, and also the overhead light, which we DIYed out of plumbing supplies if you can believe it! We decorated the shelves with a few of her favorite pieces, like an artichoke in a cloche and inspirational word art:

The curtains and rugs were so easy to make, we just asked Sage to whip them up on her sewing machine using fabric scraps she had from other projects. So, easy AND free! To add a little color to the plain white curtains, we tied them back with some yarn that coordinates with the room color scheme:

Above her bed we hung a dreamcatcher, and of course we always tuck her in with a few of her favorite toys.

The rest of her toys we keep organized in a basket, above which we hung some more inspirational word art. It’s like a hallmark card for your wall, what’s not to love?

It’s really amazing how far the space has come! We can’t believe how pink it used to be — Madison definitely isn’t a girly girl, so we love that we went with coral rather than pink for the makeover.
